Google class room
Teaching through Google class room is also a challenging work for the teachers. This is because teachers were not well equipped with the use of google classroom software and apps.
Considering this, I attended 2 days online google classroom workshop given by ICT division of Education Ministry, Thimphu. With this knowledge of online workshop, I conducted the SBIP in the school. Most of the teachers were new to this use of online teaching using this apps. All the procedure and steps were followed to create the online teaching using google classroom.
After that we were asked to form or create the google classroom from classes 4 to 6. Followed necessary steps to create and asked student and subjects teachers to join the Google classroom. Invitation were sent and well set for the google classroom.
As I am a class teacher of class VI, I informed the class wechat forum about the creation of Google classroom. Told them about the use of this apps . Even told them about the benefits of this apps. And have a password to all class student to log in the apps.
Upon this creating and asking the invitation some of the students responded me they were not able to create and log in the google classroom. This is because they were more convenient in using wechat. Some of the student were unable do so because most of the times the phones are with their parents. Some parent even don’t have the smart phone to use while some even don’t have a penny to recharge their phone data. So, looking on this pros and cons, I resolved my class to use wechat as the main means of teaching the student .
Some of the pros and cons of Google classroom apps.
-Student can use write and submit their work using google documents.
-individual work of student were kept as confidential.
- assessment record can be done in time
- can post and create other resources that are needed for student.
- we can know every students participating in the class.
Ever since the school closed on 5th March
2020, due to Covid-19 pandemic, teachers all around the country were stranded without
any teaching procedure and directives from the ministry. But here at Wangdue, with
verbal order and the directives from the CDEO, we were asked to teach through
WeChat forum and groups. With this Chinese made Apps, we were made convenient
to reach the teaching and learning conductively with our learners.
After a week we made a WeChat forum in every class consisting
every subject teacher included in it. Subject to be taught in each day were all
mandated and time tabled from the school administration.
As I am teaching classes English in I and VI, some of
the evidences are attached herewith.

Their works were all corrected as and when they
submit. Proper assessment and records were
kept for future reference to promote student in the next class.

ICT impacts
Technological
development and advancement in the west has been very impactful. Due to
globalization and changes, the advancement of technology has made its way in
the field of learning and education. One of the most important change was seen
in classrooms where ICT, Information and Communication Technology has been
integrated to make the process of learning quite easy. Integration of ICT in
classroom was seen as something revolutionary. Moving from primitive method of
teaching to modern way of teaching through integration of ICT was seen as
moving from a dark age to light age. However, despite the benefits of ICT in
classrooms, there are certain issues and challenges in integrating the ICT in
classrooms.
The first and foremost
benefit of ICT in learning is that it allows dynamic and cooperative learning
among the students. With the access to the Internet, learning is not limited to
school hours or in school boundary. Instead it gives the learners opportunity
to learn and study wherever and whenever possible.
A rural student can
access information of an urban student and share it to a foreign student, be it
during the school hours or holidays. With access to the Internet, the
dependency of the students on teachers will also be minimal and the student
will be able to know when to explore, how to explore and what to explore from
the internet. When the students explore the information by themselves, it ensures
their attention and concentration on that particular topic or subject, making
them well educated in that particular topic and subject.
However, integrating the ICT in classroom is
not as easy as it is seen. Due to limited financial aid from the government and
the ability to adapt to the modern facilities are the challenges. Making
accessible to ICT requires huge financial support because of expensive
materials. In Bhutan the cost of internet is very high as well as other
electronic equipment are also priced high. The adaptability is also a question,
since ICT in general isn’t common in the field of teaching anywhere in the
country before.
